Cheddar is one of the cottages at Moorleaze in Witham Friary. It's out in the proper countryside, surrounded by fields. The views are really nice.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's been done up to a high standard. Everything is new and well-equipped.
The cottage is on a 40-acre site with farmland and two lakes. You'll see a lot of wildlife around, deer and hares mostly. There are buzzards and owls too. The fish in the lower lake are tame, you can feed them by hand.
In the grounds there's an indoor swimming pool, a games room, a tennis court, and a play area for kids. You can borrow a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's parking and an electric vehicle charger.
The village pub is a few minutes' walk away. It's a proper local. The nearest shop is about six miles, so you'll want to bring your groceries with you.
You're well placed for driving to things. Longleat is close. Stourhead is just down the road. Bath, Wells, Glastonbury, and the Mendip Hills are all within about half an hour. Cheddar Gorge is a straightforward drive. If you're into walking, you can start right from the cottage or drive into the Mendips.
