The Cartshed

The Cartshed is on our farm in Burythorpe, near Malton. It's a barn conversion, one of two. It's meant for two people.

It's got a 4 Star rating. I'd say that's fair. It's comfortable and clean.

Downstairs is all open plan. There's a stone floor, which is cold on bare feet. The wood burner works well. The kitchen is small but it has things like a dishwasher and a coffee machine. There's a TV on the wall.

Upstairs is the bedroom and the shower room. The bed is a big super king, you can split it into two singles if you need to. The best bit is the doors out to the balcony. It's a good size. You sit out there with a drink and look at the fields. You'll see hares and buzzards.

You can bring two dogs. There's bike storage if you've brought them.

There's a hot tub. It's private, just for this cottage.

The pub in the village is about a ten minute walk. It's decent.

For things to do, Malton is the nearest town. They call it a food town, there are good butchers and a monthly food market. Castle Howard is about 15 minutes by car. It's a big stately home with grounds. York is about 40 minutes drive if you want a city day. The coast at Filey or Bridlington is under an hour.

If you like walking or cycling, you're right on the edge of the Howardian Hills and close to the Wolds. The North York Moors National Park isn't far either.

Facilities: parking right outside, bedding and towels are included, there's wifi. The other barn, Aldmoor Farmhouse, sleeps five. You can book both together if there's a bigger group.
