Blue Cedars is my place in Minehead. It's a detached house, near the top of North Hill.
The main thing is the deck. It's raised up and looks right over the town and the sea. There's a bar out there and a professional barbecue. It’s sheltered enough to sit outside most of the time if the weather's decent.
The hot tub is on the deck too. It's cleaned professionally before every stay.
Inside, it sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with king size beds, and two bathrooms. The master has wardrobes and dressing gowns.
The kitchen is modern, and leads straight out to the deck. The lounge has a wood burner. There's a separate TV room.
It's a 5 Star place, so it's got everything you'd expect: wi-fi, parking, dishwasher, washing machine, linen and towels included. It's straightforward and comfortable.
Being on a hill, the walk into town is downhill on the way there, uphill on the way back. Takes about 10 minutes. The beach is sandy and long.
Exmoor is right there. You can walk onto the moor from the house or drive a few minutes for a proper hike. Dunster Castle is close and worth a visit.
For organising walks or days out, good links are the Exmoor National Park site and the National Trust page for Dunster Castle.
