The Old Manor
The Old Manor is in Dunster. It's a big old house that sleeps twelve people, so it's good for family get-togethers.
It’s listed, Grade Two Star, so it’s pretty historic. It dates back to the 1400s. You’ll see that inside, with things like the great hall fireplace and the little chapel room. There are six bedrooms and six bathrooms, so most rooms have their own. The stairs are old, so they’re a bit uneven and steep in parts.
It’s got a four star rating. That means it’s comfortable and well-equipped, but it’s an old building. The floors aren't level and the doors are low in places. You just need to mind your head.
The garden is enclosed, with an orchard and some fruit trees. There's parking on the drive for a few cars.
Dunster village is a short walk away. There's a shop and a few pubs. The castle is right there, it's a National Trust property. You can walk down to the beach from the house, which is shingle. The West Somerset Steam Railway station is just up the lane.
Minehead is a few minutes in the car. It’s got a promenade and shops. That’s where the South West Coast Path starts. Exmoor is right on the doorstep for walking. You can drive to Porlock Weir or Lynton and Lynmouth in under half an hour.
For facilities, there's WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. There's a wood burner in the main hall. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
