This is Elsie. It's an old railway carriage in Blue Anchor, right by the sea. It faces the beach and the West Somerset Railway line, so you get a view of the sea and the steam trains going past. It's detached, so it's just you in it.
It sleeps six. There are three bedrooms. One is a small double, and the other two have bunk beds. They all look out over the track and the sea. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. We restored it properly in 2020, so everything works.
The layout is exactly what you'd expect from a railway carriage. It's one long space. You come in at one end into the living and dining area, then there's the kitchen, then the bedrooms down the hallway, with the bathroom at the far end. The hallway is narrow. It's a railway carriage.
Outside, there's a large garden area with a patio and a BBQ. You have private parking. Important thing about the garden: the carriage is raised up on blocks, so the underside is open and you can see the working railway track behind it. You have to keep dogs on a lead there, and watch children closely.
Blue Anchor is a small village. The beach is just across the road. It's dog friendly all year. There's a pub a short walk away. The train stops here if you want a trip. Minehead is about three miles one way, Watchet is three miles the other.
Dunster with its castle is a ten minute drive. Exmoor is about twenty minutes inland if you want proper walking. For a bigger day out, you can drive to the Dunster Castle estate or onto the moor itself, which is Exmoor National Park.
Inside, it's got a woodburner, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and an Xbox in one of the bunk rooms. All bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
