Elsie is a railway carriage in Blue Anchor, Somerset. It's been done up as a holiday place. It's detached and you get the garden area to yourselves. It looks out at the sea.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms. One is a small double, the other two have bunk beds. There's one shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating. The main thing to know is it's right by the West Somerset Railway line. You can see the steam trains from the windows. You can hear them too. If you like trains, it's great. If you want absolute peace and quiet, it's probably not the right place.
The beach is very close, just down the hill. It's dog friendly all year. The village has a local pub. Minehead is a few miles one way, Watchet a few miles the other.
For days out, Dunster with its castle is about 20 minutes by car. Exmoor National Park is inland, maybe a 30-minute drive to get up onto the moor. The West Somerset Railway website has timetables and details on their special trips. For walking on Exmoor, the Exmoor National Park site is useful.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, TV, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is big but the underside of the carriage is open and the working track is right there, so dogs need to be on a lead outside and children supervised.
