Stables End is the old stables for our house, converted. It's a thatched barn. We're next door in the main house. You're on the edge of Exmoor National Park, near Chidgley. It's quiet, very rural.
It's for two people. One bedroom upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. Everything feels quite new.
Downstairs is all open plan: sitting area, kitchen, dining. There's a gas wood burner for heat, and a TV. Upstairs, the bedroom looks out over the fields. The shower is electric.
You've got your own little patio area with a table and chairs. There's parking right outside. We can store bikes if you bring them. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
The local pub is about a mile and a half away, in Roadwater. They do food. The nearest shop is in Williton, that's about three miles.
Watchet is the closest proper town, less than ten minutes by car. It's a small harbour. The West Somerset Railway steam train runs from there. You can get it to Dunster, which has a castle and is all very medieval. The beach at Blue Anchor is nearby, or Minehead for a bigger resort.
You're right on Exmoor for walking. You can drive up onto the moor quite easily. Dunster Castle is National Trust, and so is the Holnicote Estate near Porlock. Useful links for planning: Exmoor National Park and National Trust South West.
Bristol and Bath are about an hour and a half north if you fancy a city day. The Dorset coast is roughly the same drive south.
