Stables End
Stables End is in Chidgley, Somerset. It's an old thatched barn that's been turned into a place to stay. It's attached to our house on one side, but it's all self-contained. You'll see our cars and maybe us coming and going.
It's for two people. One bedroom upstairs, one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, and everything is clean and works. There's a gas wood burner in the living area that puts out good heat.
The stairs are the original barn stairs. They're a bit steep and winding, just so you know. The bedroom is up there. The views from the windows are nice, over the fields.
You're right on the edge of Exmoor National Park. It’s quiet. There's a pub about a mile and a half away in the village, they do food. The nearest shop is in Watchet, about ten minutes by car.
Watchet is a small harbour town. It's got a few shops and places to eat. You can get the West Somerset Railway steam train from there. It goes to Minehead, and stops at Dunster. Dunster has a castle and a high street. The castle is National Trust.
The coast is close. Blue Anchor beach is about seven miles, it's stony. Minehead and Porlock are within twenty minutes. For a proper day out, you can drive into the middle of Exmoor, or go to the Devon border. It's all countryside.
Facilities: you get the garden area out the front, parking right there, WiFi, a TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can store bikes. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
