The Carnegie Rooms are part of a big old house called Aultnagar Lodge, near Lairg. It’s a listed building, so it's got that proper old Highland feel. You get your own private rooms in one wing, but you share the main entrance with the other part of the house.
It sleeps up to seventeen people. There are eight bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom. That’s the main thing, really, because it saves a lot of queueing with a big group. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well looked after.
Downstairs, there's a library with a wood burner for sitting around in the evening. There's also a games room. The grounds are big and open. You can bring one dog.
You're about four miles from Lairg village. Loch Shin is right on the doorstep for fishing or a walk. If you're here in the right season, you can see the salmon leaping at the Falls of Shin, which is about a ten minute drive. It’s good for a quick trip out.
For bigger days out, you're in a decent spot. The north coast beaches, like Balnakeil and Coldbackie, are about an hour's drive. For climbing, Ben Hope and Ben Klibreck are both within maybe forty minutes by car. Golspie and the famous Royal Dornoch golf course are under an hour away.
Inside, it’s got what you'd need: a dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, and TVs. The bedding and towels are included. There's plenty of parking right outside.
