Balloan Farm Cottage Balnadelson

Balloan Farm Cottage is on the farm here at Balnadelson, just outside Lairg. It’s detached, so it’s just you and the garden. We had it redone in 2020 so everything inside is modern and works properly.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms. One is downstairs and has its own shower room. The other is upstairs with twin beds and there’s a separate bathroom up there too. The stairs are normal stairs.

Downstairs, there’s a proper sitting room with a wood burner, a dining room, and the kitchen. There’s also a conservatory with another wood burner, which is a nice spot when the sun’s out. Upstairs is a small snug area with beanbags, which the kids tend to claim.

The garden is enclosed, so it’s safe for dogs. There’s parking right outside.

You’re a couple of miles from Lairg. It’s got a decent shop for basics and a couple of places to eat. The nearest pub is about three miles.

If you like getting outside, you’re in a good spot. There’s walking straight from the door. The fishing on the lochs and rivers around here is very good if that’s your thing. The coast is about half an hour’s drive. Visit Scotland Highlands has thorough information on the area.

For a famous beach, Sandwood Bay is an hour’s drive north, plus a walk. It’s spectacular. Golspie and Dornoch are about forty minutes east. Dornoch has the famous Royal Dornoch golf course among others.

The cottage is right on the North Coast 500 route, so it’s a handy stop if you’re touring.

Facilities: it’s got Wi-Fi, a washing machine, TVs, and both wood burners. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two dogs. The entrance is on the level and the main bedroom and bathroom are downstairs, which suits some people.
