Fair View Lairg

Fair View is a bungalow about a mile outside Lairg. Lairg's the crossroads of the north, so it's a good spot for getting around. The place is very spacious. You come in into a big farmhouse-style kitchen with an island and a large dining table. That looks straight out over the fields.

Double doors from the kitchen go through to a huge living room. It's got an open fire and a TV. All four bedrooms are a good size as well. They all have the same view.

The view is the main thing. You're up on open ground so you get big skies. Because there's hardly any light pollution, the stars are incredible. You might see the Northern Lights. You'll see plenty of birds, red deer, maybe pine martens.

It sleeps seven, four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The whole bungalow is on the ground floor. The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you have dogs. You can bring two.

Lairg itself is at the end of Loch Shin. There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about a mile away. For a beach, you're looking at about 15 miles.

It's a good base for the North Coast 500. You can head out east to places like Dornoch, north to Tongue, or west towards Ullapool, all within a 30-40 minute drive to really get onto the route. For local walks, Walkhighlands has good routes. If you're heading further out, the National Trust for Scotland has lots of properties and gardens.

Facilities: there's WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We've got a cot and a highchair if you need them. Plenty of parking right outside.
