Lower Brae is near a village called Kilmachalmack in Sutherland. It's very quiet here, at the end of a lane that turns into farmland. The cottage is detached and you get your own garden. It's surrounded by fields and hills.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and comfortable but not new or fancy. The owner built and improved a lot of it himself, so there's a lot of solid wood inside. The main living room has big windows on three sides looking out over the fields. There's an open fireplace.
There's a conservatory that runs along the back. It's a good spot for morning coffee. The kitchen is fine, it has what you need.
One thing to note: the owner lives next door and farms the land around the cottage. You'll see farm activity. It's not intrusive, but it's there.
The River Oykel is about a two-minute walk away. It's famous for salmon fishing if that's your thing. You can walk straight from the cottage onto the hills.
For a shop, pub, or restaurant, you're looking at about ten miles. You'll need to plan for that.
Within a thirty minute drive, you've got the Falls of Shin to see the salmon leap, and Royal Dornoch for the beach and the golf. Inverness is just over an hour if you need a city.
The wildlife around here is good. You might see deer, buzzards, maybe an otter by the river.
Facilities: it has a washing machine, WiFi, TV, an enclosed garden, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
