Lower Hilton Cottage

Lower Hilton Cottage is near Culrain, in the Highlands. It's a detached cottage, so it's on its own. You're surrounded by woods and you look out over hills and an estuary called the Kyle of Sutherland.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The inside is done in a simple, white, sort of Scandinavian style. It's very clean and tidy. There's a wood burner in the living room.

The garden is mature and mostly grass. It's not fenced in, so you'll want to keep an eye on kids or dogs. You can sit out there.

It's a very quiet spot. You get deer and birds around. The roads are single-track for the last bit, so take it slow.

For getting out, you've got walking and cycling routes right from the door. It's not busy here. There's good fishing on the local rivers. Golfers know about Royal Dornoch, but Golspie and Brora are good too.

Ardgay village is about ten minutes' drive for a small shop. A bit further, you get a butcher and a bar that does food.

Dornoch is lovely, about twenty five minutes away. Tain is similar, and that's where the Glenmorangie Distillery is. You can get onto the NC500 from near there, or head inland via Lairg to reach the north-west coast.

Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. It says luxury property, which means it's well-finished. You can bring up to two dogs.

Useful links: North Coast 500 and NatureScot for walking and wildlife.
