Foundry Bank Bonar Bridge

Foundry Bank is in Bonar Bridge. It’s a stone semi-detached cottage that was once part of the local foundry. It’s attached to our house on one side.

It sleeps four. Two double bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom with a shower downstairs. It’s a 4 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped. The stairs are a typical cottage staircase, so they turn and are a bit steep.

You’re right in the village. There’s a shop, a pub, and a bakery about a hundred yards away. The pub does food. The Kyle of Sutherland is just there, past the main road. It’s tidal here, so it’s more like a river.

You can see the bridge from the front windows. The area is really good for wildlife. We regularly see otters, deer, and lots of birds. The Falls of Shin are about a 15 minute drive away, where you can watch salmon leaping.

For getting out, you’re at a bit of a crossroads. The west coast, like Ullapool, is about an hour’s drive and the scenery on the way is spectacular. Inverness is about 40 minutes south. North takes you up towards the wilder Caithness coast.

There’s a 9-hole golf course in the village. Fishing is big here if that’s your thing. There’s also mountain bike trails starting at the edge of the village.

Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There’s parking right outside. We allow one well-behaved dog.
