Drumlea Cottage

Drumlea Cottage is on the outskirts of Bonar Bridge. It's a detached cottage, so there's nobody on the other side of the wall. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms, and there's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The place is fairly straightforward. You've got a kitchen, a living room with a wood burner, and the two bedrooms upstairs. The stairs are a standard cottage staircase. Everything you need is there: washing machine, towels and bedding included, and WiFi. There's parking right outside.

You can bring one dog. The garden is enclosed, which helps. The cottage looks out over fields and hills. You'll see sheep, and sometimes deer come past.

Bonar Bridge itself has shops for the basics and a couple of places to eat. For a bigger shop, Tain or Dornoch are about 15-20 minutes by car.

If you're here to walk, you're in the right spot. The Dornoch Firth is good for flat, coastal paths. Carbisdale Castle woodland is nearby for a proper forest walk. The Falls of Shin are about a 25-minute drive inland to see the salmon leaping.

For fishing, the Kyle of Sutherland is known for salmon. You'd need to arrange a permit locally. Loch Migdale is a freshwater loch, about five minutes away, if you fancy canoeing or paddle boarding.

Dornoch is worth a trip. It's got a cathedral, a decent beach, and the famous golf course. In the summer, the pipe band plays in the square on Saturday evenings.

The north coast and East Sutherland are within easy reach for a day out. If you want to go further afield, Inverness is just under an hour's drive.
