Laigh Isle is a cottage in Isle of Whithorn, a small harbour village on the Machars peninsula in Galloway.
It's a detached stone cottage, all on one level. We had it fully renovated last year. It sleeps four, in two double bedrooms. There's one shower room. It has a 4 Star rating.
You come in through the kitchen and living area, which is open plan. The kitchen has what you'll need: dishwasher, washing machine. The patio doors open to the front garden, which is enclosed. The back garden looks out over fields.
The village is quiet. There's a small harbour, a shop, and a couple of pubs that do food. You can walk from the door along the coast. The sea is right there.
For a bigger shop, Whithorn is about three miles away. That's where the historical site is, the Whithorn Priory. St Ninian's Cave is a walk from the village, or you can drive most of the way.
Within half an hour's drive you can get to the Galloway Forest Park for proper hills and walks, or down the coast to Portpatrick. There's golf at Wigtownshire County, which is nearby, or at Port William and others further along.
Things to know: bedding and towels are included. There's parking for one car on the gravel next to the cottage. No pets. The WiFi is decent.
