Beeches Bay

Beeches Bay is a lodge on that big holiday park up past Southerness. It's detached, which is nice, so you're not sharing a wall. It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

The main thing is the view. It's right there, across the Solway Firth to the Lake District hills. You can see it from inside through the big patio doors. There's decking all the way around so you can sit outside.

On the park itself, there's an indoor swimming pool and sometimes they have entertainment. In the village, about a ten minute walk, there's a couple of pubs that do food, a restaurant, and a shop for basics.

The beach is stony and the lighthouse is worth a look. If you play golf, the Southerness course is right there. For a longer walk, you can follow the coast.

If you drive, there's quite a bit within half an hour. There's mountain biking trails at Mabie and Dalbeattie. Caerlaverock Castle is about twenty minutes away. The RSPB Mersehead reserve is along the coast for seeing birds.

Inside, it's all open plan. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, and the bedding and towels are included. You park right next to the lodge. Sorry, no pets.
