Hollyhock Cottage
Hollyhock Cottage is in Tenterden. It's on a road just back from the high street, so you can walk to the shops in a couple of minutes. It's a terraced cottage, recently done up.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which basically means it's comfortable and well presented. The stairs are typical cottage stairs, so they turn a corner and are a bit steep. The garden is small, fully enclosed out the back. There's a patio with seating and a charcoal barbecue.
It's quiet for being so central. You get the occasional car, but mostly it's just people walking past. The high street has everything you need: a butcher, bakery, cafes, and a few nice pubs. The town is known for its wide, tree-lined main street with old buildings.
You're on the edge of the Weald here. Good for walking straight from the door. For a day out, you can drive to the coast. The Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is about half an hour away. If you head towards Ashford, you've got the Kent Downs on your doorstep.
Bodiam Castle is a 20-minute drive. It's a proper moated castle, good for a visit. National Trust Bodiam Castle.
Facilities are straightforward. Wifi, TV, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Parking is on the street outside, it's usually easy to find a space.
