The Old Thatched Cottage

The Old Thatched Cottage is just outside Tenterden, off the road into town. It's a 1700s place, obviously, and it's detached. Thatched roof, inglenook fireplace, the works. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's been modernised where it counts.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs, under the beams. One bathroom. There's a living room, a separate dining room, and a kitchen that looks out over the garden. The garden is mature and enclosed. You can sit out there.

It's about a twenty minute walk into Tenterden town centre. Tree-lined high street, shops, cafes, a few restaurants. If you drive, it's a couple of minutes.

You're in the Weald of Kent, so lots of country lanes and walks right from the door. For a day out, the Kent & East Sussex Railway runs from Tenterden. Sissinghurst Castle Garden is about fifteen minutes by car. So is Bodiam Castle. Chapel Down vineyard is nearby if you like wine. The coast at Camber Sands or Rye is about half an hour's drive.

The place has a cot and a highchair if you need them. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but it's an old cottage, so the rest of the layout might be tricky. No pets.
