The Old Thatched Cottage

The Old Thatched Cottage is in Tenterden, Kent. It's detached, so no neighbours on the other side of a wall. It's set back from the road a bit.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's old, 18th century, with a thatched roof and low beams in some places. There's a big inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. The stairs are cottage stairs, so they're steep and a bit twisty.

The garden is mature and enclosed. There's a patio with a table and chairs. It's a quiet spot.

Tenterden High Street is about a 20 minute walk away. It's a nice walk down a lane. The town has proper shops, cafes, and a few pubs. There's a Tesco too.

For days out, Sissinghurst Castle Garden is about 20 minutes by car. Bodiam Castle is about 25 minutes. Chapel Down Winery is just outside town. Rye is maybe half an hour away. The coast at Camber Sands is about 16 miles.

The cottage has a dishwasher and washing machine. Parking is on the gravel drive. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. It's listed as having a wheelchair accessible entrance, but due to the age and layout, please check with us if you have specific access requirements. No pets, sorry.
