Romden Barn is a converted barn on our farm, near Smarden in Kent. It's detached, so it's just you, but our farmhouse is next door. The place sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and well looked after, not over the top.
The main living room is big, with French doors out to the garden. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a downstairs toilet too. The stairs are normal, but there's a low beam on the first-floor landing. You get used to it, but watch your head.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have dogs or kids. There's a lawn, some furniture, and a barbecue. You're also welcome to walk on about an acre of our land. There's a large pond there, not fenced in, so you need to be careful. If you want to fish for carp or trout in it, you just need to ask me first.
It's a quiet, rural spot. The local pub is about two miles away in Smarden. The village shop is three miles. For a bigger shop, you'd go to Ashford.
As for things to do, Sissinghurst Castle Garden is about a 20-minute drive. The vineyards at Biddenden are close, maybe 10 minutes. Leeds Castle is half an hour away, it's very grand with good grounds for a walk. Canterbury is just under half an hour, with the cathedral and shops. The coast at Hythe or Camber is about 40 minutes if you fancy the sea.
The place has parking, Wi-Fi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. You can bring up to two dogs. Because it's a working farm, you'll see and hear farm animals and machinery sometimes.
