The Sanctuary is near Little Chart Forstal in Kent. It’s a detached mock Tudor house. It looks quite grand but inside it’s quite straightforward. It’s got three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Each bedroom has its own ensuite.
It sleeps five people. The rating is 3 Star. That means it's comfortable and clean, but not a luxury finish.
The house sits in about four acres of land. The gardens are big and open, with views across fields. There’s a patio and a barbecue area. The swimming pool is outdoors, so it’s only usable in the warmer months. There's also a separate summerhouse that we use as a games room.
Inside, there’s an open fireplace. The stairs are the original oak ones, so they’re a bit curved and the treads aren't always even. The floors are wood in some rooms.
It’s very quiet here. The only other building close by is the caretaker's lodge. The nearest pub is about half a mile away. They do food. The nearest postbox is just up the lane.
Canterbury is about a twenty minute drive. The cathedral is worth seeing. For days out, you’ve got lots of historic houses nearby like Ightham Mote or Knole. The coast at Whitstable or Folkestone is within half an hour. Dover is about 40 minutes if you're thinking of a trip to France.
London is about an hour by train from Ashford station, which is a fifteen minute drive.
In terms of what’s here: there’s a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. Sorry, no pets.
