Major's Lodge
Major's Lodge is a small glamping cabin in some woods outside Muthill. It's for two people only, no kids, no pets. It's got a five star rating, which means they've paid more attention to the finish and the fittings.
You're in a cabin in the trees, off a path. It's insulated, so it's got heating for the cooler months. The idea is a sort of comfortable, simple base.
There are windows looking out into the woods. You'll see birds and sometimes deer, but if you're loud you'll scare them off. It's their place really.
The owners used local makers for a lot of the stuff inside. There's a wood-burning hot tub outside, which they'll have lit for you when you arrive. The lights are low-energy and the water comes from a spring nearby.
Muthill village is a short walk away. There's a local pub. For more choice, Crieff is about four miles east. They've got shops, cafes, and places to eat.
The cabin is on an estate with a castle. At night they light the castle up, so you can see it from here. The view looks out towards the Highlands.
Facilities-wise: there's a shower, towels and bedding are included, you've got wifi, a barbecue, and parking right by the cabin. There's a small on-site shop if you forget anything.
