Rowanlea

Rowanlea is our cottage in Muthill, Perthshire. It's a three-bedroom house on a quiet street in the village. It sleeps six comfortably.

The house was renovated a few years ago. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. Downstairs there's a living room with a wood burner, and a kitchen-diner with patio doors out to the garden. There's also a separate garden room with floor-to-ceiling windows and another wood burner. It's a really bright space.

Upstairs are the three bedrooms and two bathrooms. All the bedrooms look out over the back garden. The garden itself is a decent size, fully enclosed, with a patio area. Good for kids or just sitting out.

A few things to know. The stairs are standard, not steep. The main bathroom has a shower over the bath. There's a washing machine and dishwasher, and all the bedding and towels are provided. You can bring up to two dogs.

In the village, there's a shop about 500 yards away. The pub and a restaurant are a bit closer, maybe 300 yards. The pub does food. There's a kids' play park and a 9-hole golf course. The old church is interesting if you like history.

Crieff is only about three miles up the road. It’s got supermarkets, shops, a couple of distilleries, and things like the Crystal Spring shop. They hold the Highland Games there.

If you want to get out, Loch Earn is about 15 minutes' drive for watersports. There's good walking all around. Ben Vorlich and Ben Chonzie are both within a 30-minute drive for more serious hikes. For history, Doune Castle is about 20 minutes away and is worth a visit. Stirling, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow are all easy for a day trip, with Edinburgh and Glasgow being just over an hour's drive.
