The Lodge Wendling

The Lodge is on the edge of a place called Scarning Dale House, near Wendling in Norfolk. It's one of a few cottages in the grounds. There's a fair bit of land around, about 25 acres of gardens, woods and a lake. You get your own garden bit with the cottage.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating. It’s comfortable and clean.

We are attached to another cottage, Lodge Cottage. They have their own separate entrance, but the buildings are joined.

You can walk straight out from the cottage onto paths through the woods and meadows here. There's stuff to do on site: an indoor heated swimming pool, a snooker table and table tennis. The grounds are good for kids to run around. You'll see a lot of birds.

Facilities: parking, wifi, TV, washing machine, bedding included. We've got a cot. You can bring up to three dogs.

For days out, Dereham is the nearest town, a few miles away. They've got shops, a pool, a golf course, the usual.

The north Norfolk coast is about half an hour's drive. You've got beaches like Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham. The National Trust looks after a lot of that coastline. The Norfolk Broads are about 40 minutes east if you want to mess about on boats.

If you're looking for historical sites, there's Sandringham, or castles like Castle Acre. Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse museum is close by. Thetford Forest is good for walking or cycling, about 25 minutes south.
