The Lodge is on the edge of Wendling. It's in the grounds of a big house, set in about 25 acres of gardens and woodland. There's a proper indoor heated swimming pool on site, which is a big bonus.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean but not decked out with fancy stuff. The garden is enclosed, so it's fine for dogs.
You're sharing the grounds with a few other holiday cottages. Lodge Cottage is actually attached to this one, but it has its own entrance and garden. You might see other guests around by the pool or walking the trails.
Speaking of trails, you can walk straight from the door into the woods and meadows here. There's a lake and a pond. It's very quiet.
The coast is the main draw. It's about half an hour's drive to beaches like Wells-next-the-Sea or Holkham. The North Norfolk Coast is all sand, seals, and big skies. The National Trust looks after a lot of it.
Other things within 30 minutes: Norwich for a city day out, the market town of Dereham is just a few miles away, and the Gressenhall Rural Life Museum is interesting if you like that sort of thing. The Norfolk Broads are about 40 minutes for boat trips.
What's here: your own garden with furniture, the shared indoor pool, a washing machine, WiFi, parking right outside. Bedding is included. There's a cot if you need one.
