Hob Cote is our cottage in Midgehole, just outside Hebden Bridge. It's old, from the 1600s, and made of stone. It's semi-detached. We renovated it in 2021.
It fits five people. There are three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a five star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped.
Because it's old, there are some things to know. The doorways are low in places, so watch your head. The stairs are steep. They're open on one side and some steps are wider than others. They wouldn't be good for someone with mobility issues, or for very small children.
Inside, there are beams, a stone fireplace with a wood burner, and some wooden panelling. It's warm. The garden wraps around the cottage. There's a patio out the front that gets the sun. Out the back, there's a covered barbecue area and a hot tub. Further up the garden there's a hut with its own wood burner, which is a good spot to sit and look out over the woods.
It's quiet here. You're right on the edge of Hardcastle Crags, which is National Trust land. It's woodland with good walks and a stream. There's a cafe at Gibson Mill.
You can walk down into Hebden Bridge, it takes about twenty minutes along the river. Hebden has a lot of independent shops and cafes, a cinema, and a train station. Trains go direct to Manchester and Leeds. The local pub is about a ten minute walk.
Within half an hour's drive you can get into the Yorkshire Dales National Park or the Peak District National Park.
Facilities: it's got parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, EV charger, and bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
