Hardcastle Crags Cottage is at Midgehole, just over a mile outside Hebden Bridge. It's a stone terrace cottage, one of a short row. You’re right next to the woods the place is named after.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One bathroom. It’s got a 5 Star rating. It's been done up, but it’s still an old cottage. The stairs are what you’d expect, not a spiral but they turn and are fairly steep.
There’s a local pub about 350 yards down the road. The nearest shop is a couple of miles away in Hebden Bridge.
The cottage looks directly into the woods. The National Trust Hardcastle Crags paths start practically from the door. You can walk along the river into Hebden Bridge, which takes about 45 minutes.
Hebden Bridge has independent shops, cafes, and a cinema. You can get a direct train to Manchester in about half an hour.
Within half an hour's drive you can get to Haworth, for the Brontë Parsonage. The wider Yorkshire Dales National Park is about an hour's drive, and the Peak District National Park is about the same.
Facilities: there's a woodburning stove, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a patio area. Wi-Fi and TV are included. Bedding and towels are provided. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
