Commons Farm Cottage is a stone cottage from the 1600s. It's a couple of miles outside Hebden Bridge, up a farm track. It's on a sheep farm, but it's a holiday cottage, not part of the working farm. It's attached to our house but it's completely separate.
Sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. There's a wet room on the ground floor too, which is handy. It's got a 4 star rating.
The views are really the thing. Big windows in every room look out over the valley. You can just stand there and look at it. There's a stone patio with a hot tub and a barbecue area. It's south facing so you get the sun.
Inside, it's been done up but we kept the old bits. There are beams and a stone fireplace. The stairs are steep. It's an old cottage, they just are.
You can walk straight from the door onto the Calderdale Way footpath. The National Trust's Hardcastle Crags woods are close, and the Pennine Way isn't far. Hardcastle Crags is good for a shorter walk, especially if you want a cafe half way.
There's a pub about a ten minute walk down the lane. It does food. The local shop and post office is about fifteen minutes on foot. Hebden Bridge centre is about a mile and a half. You can walk it in half an hour, or get the bus or drive in under ten minutes. It's got good shops and cafes.
Haworth is about twenty minutes by car. You can see the Brontë Parsonage and walk up on the moors. The Yorkshire Dales are about an hour's drive north, and the Peak District is about an hour south. Manchester, Leeds, and York are all easy by train from Hebden Bridge station.
Facilities: Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair. Wifi, TV, bicycle storage. Parking for two cars. No pets, sorry.
