Ard Cuan is our lodge near Blackwaterfoot on Arran. It's detached, so no neighbours on either side. You're up on a bit of a slope, so the main view from the deck is over the fields towards Shiskine and down to the coast. It's a good spot for watching the weather come in.
It sleeps four adults comfortably, but there are bunk beds and a cot as well if you need them. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-finished and everything works. It's all on one level, so the entrance and the rooms are step-free.
Inside, it's open plan. The French doors open onto a private deck, which gets the sun in the evening. The kitchen has what you'd need. There's a separate utility room with the washing machine. Outside, there's a shed for storing bikes or golf clubs, and a bigger one for canoes or surfboards if you've brought them.
You can walk down to the beach from the lodge, it's about a mile. Blackwaterfoot village is about a ten minute drive. There's a shop, a pub that does food, a golf course, and a hotel with a pool. The beach there is sandy and good for families.
For a day out, the main ferry to Brodick is about half an hour's drive from the lodge. From there you can explore more of the island. The National Trust for Scotland has a few properties on Arran like Brodick Castle. The coastal path around the island is right there for walking.
In terms of what's there: bedding and towels are included, there's a dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside. No pets, I'm afraid.
