Hippo's Rest is a cottage for two in Harriseahead. It's a village on the Staffordshire edge of the Potteries. It's semi-detached, and we live next door.
You'll have the whole cottage. It's got a 4 Star rating. Downstairs is open plan, with patio doors to the garden. Upstairs is a big bedroom with a kingsize bed, and a bathroom with a shower.
The gardens are large and landscaped. They're shared with us, but you get your own private patio with a table and chairs. There's a pond in the garden area, which is interesting.
The village is quiet. Mow Cop Castle is at the top of the hill, which is a proper landmark. It's an old folly and the start, or end, of the Gritstone Trail for walkers.
You're close to a few counties here. Congleton market town is about ten minutes by car. Leek is about twenty minutes, and it's good for antiques. The Potteries heritage towns, like Stoke, are about fifteen minutes away.
There are a lot of National Trust places within half an hour. Biddulph Grange Garden is very close, Little Moreton Hall is a beautiful old house, and Tatton Park is a big estate. The Jodrell Bank Observatory is also nearby and is worth a visit.
For shopping or a bigger day out, the Trentham Estate is about half an hour's drive.
Facilities: there's on-site parking, a washing machine, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. There's a local pub a short walk away, about 700 yards. The nearest shop is about three quarters of a mile.
