Elizabeth House is in Bampton, right on the edge of Exmoor National Park. It's a proper Devon village.
The house sleeps five. There are three bedrooms. Two bathrooms, one is en-suite to the main bedroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The stairs are normal house stairs, not those really steep cottage ones.
The layout is a bit upside down. You come in on the middle floor into the living room. The kitchen and dining room are down a flight of stairs. It's open plan and has modern stuff like a dishwasher. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got dogs or kids. It's gravel, not lawn.
Bampton itself has what you need. A couple of pubs that do food, a butcher, a baker, a small shop. There's a kids' play area in the village.
For walking, you can step out the door and straight onto paths. Wimbleball Lake is about ten minutes by car. You can walk, cycle, or do watersports there. The moors are right there for more serious hiking.
Dulverton is a nice little town about 15 minutes away. Dunster, with its castle, is maybe 25 minutes. Knightshayes Court is a National Trust property half an hour away.
Tiverton is four miles for bigger shops. If you want a city day, Exeter or Taunton are about 35 minutes in opposite directions. The north Devon coast, like Minehead, is within half an hour.
Facilities: it's got WiFi, Sky TV, a washing machine, parking for two cars on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. You can bring up to three dogs. There's a BBQ in the garden.
