Lilium Cottage is in North Somercotes, on the Lincolnshire coast. It’s a detached bungalow, so all on one level. It's next to our house, but it’s private.
It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There’s one bathroom. Everything is open plan, so the kitchen, dining and sitting area are all in one room. It’s got a 5 Star rating, which means it’s well-equipped and comfortable.
The village has what you need. There’s a couple of shops and two pubs within about half a mile. One of the pubs does food.
For the beach, Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes is closest, about two miles away. It’s a National Trust site so it’s clean and quiet. You can drive to Mablethorpe for the classic seaside stuff – fairground, amusements, that sort of thing. That’s about eleven miles.
The big local attraction is Donna Nook, which is two miles down the road. From late October to December, the seals come ashore to have their pups. You can get very close. It gets busy but it’s worth seeing. More information is on the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust site.
Louth is eight miles inland. It’s a nice market town with good independent shops and a big church.
Facilities: there’s a wood burner for the winter, a washing machine, dishwasher, and an enclosed garden with a BBQ. Parking is on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a highchair and a cot if you need them. No pets, sorry.
If you’re planning to explore the coast or go walking, the National Trust for Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire Wolds websites are useful.
