The Cottage
The Cottage is near Neath, off a country lane. It’s a small, single-storey place, so no stairs to worry about. We finished the renovation a couple of years ago. It's for two people, one bedroom, one bathroom.
You've got your own enclosed garden with a patio. It’s quiet. We live on the same smallholding, but the cottage is private. There's parking right outside.
Inside, it's all open plan. The kitchen's at one end, living space in the middle. It's comfortable and clean. We've kept it simple.
The land here is about 16 acres. There’s a wildlife pond. You can walk straight from the door into Dyffryn woods. The climb up through the woods is about 260 metres. On a clear day, you can see right over Neath to the Bristol Channel and the Gower.
For a proper beach, Aberavon is about nine miles. The Gower Peninsula is twenty miles away and it’s spectacular. Swansea Bay and Mumbles are also within half an hour.
If you like mountain biking, Afan Forest Park has trails and it's 25 minutes by car. Bike Park Wales is about 40 minutes away.
The town of Neath is three miles for shops. Swansea is nine miles. Cardiff is under an hour's drive, or you can get the train from Neath.
Local things to see: Craig y Nos Castle and its park are practically opposite. The National Showcaves Centre for Wales is a short drive inland.
Facilities wise: there's a TV, WiFi, a cot and a highchair if needed. All bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a BBQ in the garden.
