Mango Pony's Bothy is in Lower Diabaig, on the west coast. It's a detached, single-storey building. It was a farm outbuilding originally. It sleeps two, in one open-plan room. There's a separate shower room. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The main room has the bed, a sitting area, a small dining table and the kitchen all together. It's all on one level, which is good if stairs are a problem. The view from the big window is the main thing. It looks straight out over Diabaig Bay to the hills. You'll spend a lot of time looking at it.
Outside, there's parking for two cars. The garden is shared with the cottage next door, Lily Lodge, but you get your own private patio with seating.
The drive in is part of the holiday. From Torridon it's about nine miles of single-track road along the lochside. You arrive into this little collection of houses around a curved, old pier. It feels very remote.
If you're walking, you're in a good spot. The Torridon hills are right there. For a more structured walk, the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve is about a half-hour drive, past Loch Maree. Gairloch is to the north, Applecross to the south. The Isle of Skye is about an hour and a half's drive if you want a day out.
There's a restaurant about a five-minute walk away. The nearest shop and pub are in Torridon, about nine and eleven miles drive respectively. You'll want to arrive with supplies.
Facilities: it's got a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. The entrance is wheelchair accessible. No pets.
