Vindolanda is in Ardheslaig, which is part of a small hamlet called Fearnbeg on the Applecross peninsula. It's a cottage for four people.
You get two bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. Both bedrooms are doubles. They've got the same view, which is the main thing about the place. You look straight out over Loch Torridon to the mountains. It's a proper view, not just a glimpse. You see it from nearly every window.
The layout is simple. Downstairs, there's a living room at one end and a dining room at the other. Both have open fires. The kitchen is in the middle. Everything's light because of the windows. Upstairs, the landing is open over the hall, so it feels spacious.
There's a small enclosed garden at the front with some steps up to the door. You can park right outside. The track down to the house is fine for a normal car.
A few minutes' walk down the lane there's a small sandy beach. It's more of a cove, really. Good for kids to poke around in. You'll see wildlife from the house if you're patient. Seals, eagles, sometimes dolphins. The stars at night are very clear.
The nearest place for a pub or a shop is Applecross village. That's about a 13-mile drive. The road there is the famous Bealach na Bà. It's single track with passing places and the views are incredible, so it takes a while. The Applecross Inn does good food. There's also a shop and a cafe.
If you want to go further, Torridon is about 40 minutes for serious hill walking. Skye is maybe an hour and a half for a day trip. But honestly, most people just stay around here. You can walk or cycle for miles along the coast.
What's here: Washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking. The garden is enclosed. No pets, sorry.
