Tigh An Iasgair is in Ardheslaig, on the Applecross peninsula. The name's Gaelic for the fisherman's house. It's a detached house sleeping six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating.
The main thing is the view. You look out over the sea to the islands. The living area has big patio doors that open onto a paved patio, so you can sit outside with it. The grounds go right down to the shore.
It's an eco-house, so it's warmed by a ground source heat pump, with underfloor heating. It's very light inside, with high ceilings. There's a multi-fuel stove.
You're quite remote here. The nearest shop and pub is about seven miles away, in Applecross village. There's a small, sheltered beach about four minutes walk away, at the end of Fearnbeg.
You can get here two ways. The coastal road from Shieldaig is the easier drive. The other way is over the Bealach na Ba, the pass of the cattle. It's the highest road in Britain. The views are incredible, but it's very steep and winding. Check the weather before you go that way.
If you like walking or cycling, it's good right from the door. The Torridon hills are close for serious climbing. You might see otters, eagles, or pine martens.
Facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and bedding is included. No pets.
