Oakdene Lodge

Oakdene Lodge is in Three Legged Cross, just back off the road. It's a semi-detached property, so there's another house attached. That one is sometimes used by the owner. The place sleeps seven across four bedrooms, with three bathrooms.

It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not showy. The garden is fully enclosed and pretty big, with a lawn and a sitting area under some wisteria. There's a wooded bit at the back. Parking is on site, private.

Inside, you've got parquet floors in the living rooms and a slate floor in the kitchen. There's a main living room with an open fire, and a separate smaller sitting room with a wood burner.

The facilities cover the usual: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, cot and highchair. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two pets.

There's a thatched pub about a five-minute walk away. The local shop is a mile.

Location is the main thing. You're right near the edge of the New Forest. For walks, you're close to Moors Valley Country Park and Avon Heath. The New Forest itself is a short drive. You can see the ponies and walk or cycle off-road. New Forest National Park has good maps and information.

Within about half an hour you can get to Bournemouth or Poole for the beach. Wimborne Minster and Ringwood are your nearest proper towns for shops. Salisbury, with the cathedral, is also within reach. Slightly further, you've got the Jurassic Coast.

If you're planning day trips, the National Trust for Dorset site is useful, and Jurassic Coast has all the information on that area.
