Halfehill Cottage
Halfehill Cottage is in Richmond. It's a town centre cottage, so you’re right in amongst it. The main cobbled market square and the shops are about 100 yards away. You can hear the church bells.
It sleeps five. Two bedrooms, and two bathrooms which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. We allow two dogs.
The back door opens straight onto a path that leads down to the River Swale. Turn left or right and you're on a riverside walk. You can follow it east to the ruins of Easby Abbey, which is nice. Or you can head west towards the Pennine Way. The walking is the main thing here.
In the other direction, you're a couple of minutes from the castle. Richmond's a proper market town, so you've got butchers, bakers, a Co-op. There's a farmer's market on the square sometimes. Plenty of pubs, some do good food.
If you drive, the Yorkshire Dales National Park starts not far out of town. It’s about a 15 minute drive to get into proper Dales scenery. For a historic day out, you've got the National Trust places nearby, like Mount Grace Priory. The coast at Saltburn is about an hour if you fancy that.
Facilities wise: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can park one car on the driveway. There's storage for bikes.
