Shore Meadow is in Silecroft, right on the south west coast of Cumbria. It's a semi-detached bungalow, so everything is on one level. There's no stairs, which is useful.
It sleeps four. Two double bedrooms and one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is comfortable and well-equipped, but it's not a show home. It's for living in.
The sitting room has a wood burner. There's a separate dining room and a kitchen that opens onto a patio. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have dogs or young children. You can park two cars on the drive.
You're about a three minute walk from the beach. It's a long, sandy beach, good for walking. The views from the cottage are west over the sea to the Isle of Man, and east to Black Combe fell.
In the village, there's a shop about 50 yards away for basics. The pub is about three quarters of a mile up the road.
Black Combe is two miles away if you want to walk up a fell without driving far. For a bigger day out, the Western Fells like Scafell Pike are within a 30 minute drive. The Lake District National Park site has walking routes.
Other things nearby include Muncaster Castle, which has gardens and an owl centre, and the Ravenglass and Eskdale steam railway. There's a wild animal park and a heavy horse centre that does beach rides.
If you drive along the coast, Whitehaven harbour is worth a visit. Coniston Water is about half an hour away for boating.
Practical stuff: bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
