Forest Cottage is on the Ardmaddy Estate, about twelve miles from Oban. It's a single-storey bungalow, so everything's on the ground floor. That's handy. It sits just below the main castle and looks out over a field that leads straight down to the sea. You get your own garden, which is enclosed.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-fitted. There's a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. The sun porch is a good spot, it looks right out over the water.
You're allowed up to three dogs. Bedding is included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on site.
The estate grounds are nice to walk around. The castle gardens are open to visitors sometimes through Scotland's Gardens Scheme. Guests can use the tennis court. There's also a hill loch on the estate that's stocked for fishing.
The local pub is about two and a half miles away. Oban is your main town for shops, about twelve miles. It's got restaurants, and you can get ferries from there to islands like Mull and Iona.
You see a lot of wildlife around here. Porpoises, sometimes dolphins, otters, and plenty of seabirds. The area is part of the National Scenic Area. For a day out, you can drive to Glencoe or Fort William in under an hour. The National Trust for Scotland has a few sites nearby if you're interested in history or gardens.
