The Stables

The Stables is a cottage on the Ardmaddy estate, near Balvicar on the Isle of Seil. It's detached. The main thing about it is the view. The patio doors look straight out over Ardmaddy Bay. You can sit inside and watch the water.

It sleeps six in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been modernised but they kept the old stable character. The rooms are a good size with proper fitted cupboards.

You're right on the coast here. The wildlife is often just there: porpoises, otters, seabirds. Sometimes you see eagles. You can hire a boat from the estate if you want, or fish on their hill loch. There's a tennis court you can use too. The castle gardens are open to visit and are really something if you like gardens.

It's quiet. The nearest pub is about two and a half miles away in Balvicar. For a proper shop you need to go to Oban, which is twelve miles. Oban's the main town. It's got shops, restaurants, and ferries to the islands like Mull and Iona. Boat trips leave from there.

If you want to get out, Glencoe and Fort William are under an hour's drive. There's a lot of history around, old castles and iron works. For walks, you're on the coast with all the sea lochs, or there are forest tracks inland.

In the cottage you've got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, and WiFi. The garden is enclosed. There's parking right there. You can bring two dogs. Bedding and towels are included, and we provide a cot and highchair if needed.
