The Stables

The Stables is on the Ardmaddy Estate, near Oban. It's one of a few cottages on the grounds. The building used to be the estate stables, but it's been converted now.

It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating from Visit Scotland, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped. The main living area is open plan and has patio doors that look straight out over the bay.

You’re right on the water here. The view from the cottage is across Seil Sound to the Slate Islands. You’ll see a lot of wildlife. Porpoises, seals, and sometimes otters. Plenty of seabirds. The estate gardens are open to visit and are quite something if you like that sort of thing.

For the estate itself, you can use the tennis court. There's free fishing on the hill loch, which is stocked. You can also hire boats from the estate if you want to get out on the water.

Oban is about twelve miles away. It’s a proper working town with ferries, so you've got shops, pubs, and good seafood places. From there you can get boat trips out to Mull, Iona, Staffa, and other islands.

Within a half hour drive you’ve got a lot. Glencoe and Fort William are that way for walking or climbing. There’s horse riding locally. You’re close to the Cruachan power station visit, and Inveraray with its jail museum is also within reach.

Facilities: It’s detached with its own enclosed garden and patio. There’s parking. It has a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. Pets are allowed, up to three. There’s also a games room on the estate that guests can use.
