Foxes Retreat is in Thornton Watlass, right on the village green. It's a brick cottage, sleeps eight. There's a pub opposite. They do food.
It's got four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are downstairs, both king-size beds. The other two are upstairs, both twins. One has its own ensuite shower. The stairs are fine, normal stairs.
The kitchen is decent, you’ve got a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a separate dining room. The living room has a wood burner. TV, wifi, that sort of thing. The garden is enclosed, which is handy.
You can bring one dog. All the bedding and towels are included. Parking is on the drive.
The village is quiet. There's the pub and a cricket pitch on the green. Masham is about ten minutes drive one way, Bedale about ten minutes the other. Masham has the Theakston and Black Sheep breweries. Bedale has a high street with shops.
For days out, Middleham Castle is close. The Yorkshire Dales National Park starts not far from here. For walking, there's Hackfall Woods or the Druid's Temple folly near Ilton.
Within about half an hour you can get to places like Ripon with its cathedral, Fountains Abbey which is a National Trust site, or Brimham Rocks. The Forbidden Corner is a popular odd garden attraction for families.
