Mallards

This is Mallards in Thorpeness. It's a detached house, built about nine years ago in a modern take on the local style. Sleeps eight, four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. That's handy with a group.

It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard. The living areas are open plan with big windows. The kitchen has all the appliances you'd need. The main bedroom has a glass balcony looking over the garden.

The garden is fully enclosed, with a lawn, a patio with a table, and a hot tub. The hot tub is for four people, electric, and there's an extra charge to use it.

Thorpeness itself is an unusual place. It was designed as a holiday village over a century ago. The house overlooks the Meare Boating Lake, and the beach is a few hundred yards away. There's a pub about a five minute walk from the house.

Aldeburgh is a couple of miles along the coast. You can walk it along the beach path if you want. It's a proper seaside town with shops, fish and chips, and a pebble beach.

If you're interested in nature, RSPB Minsmere is about ten minutes' drive away. Dunwich Heath and the coast are also close. Southwold is about half an hour north by car. You can bring two dogs.

Practical things: parking on the drive, WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. It's available over Christmas.
