Woodlands Lodge

Woodlands Lodge is a detached cabin in Heronsford, near Ballantrae in Ayrshire. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower.

The lodge feels light inside and has a wraparound deck you can sit out on. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and has what you need. It's open plan downstairs.

You're within Lagganhouse Country Park. There's a kids' play area on site, and you can book the swimming pool for private sessions. It's a good spot for families.

You're about three miles from Ballantrae. It's a small town on the coast with a harbour, a beach, a pub that does food, and a few shops. The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs through there if you want to walk.

Girvan is about 20 minutes up the coast. They do boat trips from there out to Ailsa Craig. There's a leisure centre in Girvan too.

You're right in Burns Country. You've got Burns Cottage and the museum in Alloway, and the Brig o' Doon. There are plenty of ruined castles along the coast like Dunure and Turnberry.

Culzean Castle is probably the big one here. It's on the cliffs and the grounds are worth the trip. National Trust for Scotland: Culzean Castle. Dumfries House, over near Cumnock, is an 18th-century house with big gardens.

The towns of Ayr, Prestwick and Troon are all within half an hour. You can get the train from there into Glasgow if you fancy a day in the city.

Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. The garden is enclosed. You can bring one dog.
