Balnowlart Lodge
This is Balnowlart Lodge, near Ballantrae. It's a detached lodge that sleeps six, with three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well equipped. You can bring up to two dogs.
The lodge sits above the River Stinchar valley. From the garden you look out over the fields sloping down to the river. It's a quiet spot. The building itself has been here for over a century.
Inside, there's an open fire for cooler evenings. The rooms are comfortable, not huge. It's got what you need: a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
The village of Ballantrae is about two miles away. It has a shop, a pub, and a restaurant. There's a pebble beach there with views out to Ailsa Craig and Arran.
For a bigger day out, you can get the ferry to Belfast from Cairnryan, which is about a 20 minute drive. The famous Turnberry golf course is roughly half an hour away by car.
The Galloway Forest Park is the UK's largest forest park and it's a Dark Sky Park, so if you're into stargazing it's very good. It's about a 40 minute drive. For a stately home, Dumfries House is worth a visit, it's about 45 minutes inland.
