This is Professors Cottage. It's an 18th century place, detached, just outside Colmonell in South Ayrshire. It's peaceful and secluded.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's rated 4 Star. It's comfortable and well kept. The main room and the bedroom both have wood burning stoves. The stairs are steep, typical cottage stairs.
You're surrounded by fields and there's a stream at the bottom of the garden. You get deer and red squirrels. It's on the edge of the Galloway Dark Sky Park, so the night skies are very clear.
The garden is enclosed and there's seating out the back. You can hear the stream. There's parking right next to the cottage.
For facilities, it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. We accept up to two pets.
Colmonell itself is small. The nearest shop and petrol station are in Ballantrae, about five miles away. Girvan is a bit bigger and has a beach.
If you like walking, you're close to the Galloway Forest Park. The coast is about 15 minutes by car. For fishing, you can get permits for the River Stinchar, which is basically on the doorstep. Boat trips to Ailsa Craig for bird watching leave from Girvan. Good golf courses are nearby, like Turnberry and Troon.
Culzean Castle is well worth a visit, about a half hour drive. You can also get a ferry to Ireland from Cairnryan.
