The House On The Slip

The House on the Slip is the oldest house in Kylerhea. As the name says, it's on the slip, right on the point. The sea is about ten feet from the garden wall at high tide. You can sit in the sun room and watch it come in.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star property. It's detached and down a little track, so it's quiet. You'll hear the water and the birds more than anything else.

The stairs are spiral and a bit steep. There's a stairgate fitted.

Out the front, you can often see seals and otters. Dolphins and porpoises come past sometimes. Sea eagles, Victor and Orla, are often about. The owner's Hebridean sheep and Shetland ponies are in the field behind.

You're right on the Kylerhea Narrows. The community-run turntable ferry to Glenelg is a few minutes' walk away. It runs from 10am, with the last sailing between 6 and 7pm depending on the season. They don't take bookings, but they won't leave you stranded.

Inside, there's a woodburning stove, TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need it. Parking is on site.

For a day out, you're about 45 minutes from the main Isle of Skye bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh. Eilean Donan Castle is about a 40-minute drive. Glenelg, just over the ferry, has its own Brochs to look at.
