The Holt

The Holt is my place in Glenelg. It's a one-bedroom flat attached to my house. It's for two people.

It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean, but not luxurious. It's just a normal flat. You get your own enclosed garden bit out the back, which is handy if you bring a dog.

The view from the front is the main thing. You look straight across the water to the Isle of Skye. The hills are behind you. On a clear day, you can just sit and watch the light change. Sometimes you see sea eagles. Otters are around, but they're shy.

The village is half a mile away. There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant. The beach is about three quarters of a mile. The road into Glenelg goes over the Mam Ratagan pass. The views from up there are incredible.

You can get the little ferry over to Skye. It's the old turntable ferry, it only takes a few cars. It runs in the summer. It's about two miles from the house to the ferry point.

For history, there are two old brochs, Dun Telve and Dun Troddan, a few minutes' drive away. The ruins of Bernera Barracks are in the village. If you like walking, you're right in it. You can start from the door.

The night skies here are very dark. In winter, if you're lucky, you might see the northern lights.

Inside, there's one bedroom with its own shower room. The kitchen has a washing machine. There's a TV and wifi. I provide bedding and towels. You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's parking.
