Kerrytonlia Cottage
Kerrytonlia Cottage is a detached house near Mount Stuart, on the Isle of Bute. It sleeps eight people over four bedrooms, and has three bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. The place has been redone recently, so the kitchen and bathrooms are modern.
The house looks out over Kerrylamont Bay. The beach is about 25 yards away. You can walk straight down to it. There’s a big enclosed garden, good for kids or a dog if you had one, but we don’t take pets.
The stairs inside are normal house stairs, nothing too steep. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor, one with its own shower room. Upstairs there’s a twin bedroom with another en-suite, and a family bathroom with a bath and a separate walk-in shower. There’s a living room and a smaller snug room too.
All bedding and towels are included. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on the drive.
Rothesay is the main town, about a ten minute drive. It’s got supermarkets, a few restaurants, and the ferry terminal. The ferry from Wemyss Bay takes about 35 minutes and you don’t need to book. There are three golf courses on the island if that’s your thing.
For a day out, Mount Stuart House and Gardens is very close. The West Island Way is good for walking. In the summer, the paddle steamer Waverley sometimes does trips from Rothesay.
