The Old Smithy is in Llanfaes, which is a very small, quiet hamlet just off the main road to Beaumaris. It's a conversion of the old blacksmith's place, so there are a lot of original beams and big stone fireplaces. It's got history, but it's not a museum. It's just a solid, comfortable house.
It sleeps eight, but that's three bedrooms plus a sofa bed. There are three bathrooms, which is handy with a group. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and finished to a good standard.
The kitchen is where most people end up. It's a big room with a Rangemaster, a sofa, a wood burner and a TV. The main living room has high ceilings and a very large inglenook fireplace. It's a nice room to sit in.
The garden is sheltered and gets the sun all day. There's furniture and a BBQ out there. It's fully enclosed, so it's safe for dogs and children.
You're about a mile from Beaumaris. It's an easy drive or a decent walk. The town has everything: shops, pubs, a chemist. The castle is there on the waterfront. It's a good base.
For days out, you're right on the coast road. The whole coastline of Anglesey is accessible. The Menai Strait is a few minutes away. For organised walks or history, the National Trust in Wales and Visit Anglesey sites are useful. Snowdonia is about a 30 minute drive across the bridge if you want mountains.
Facilities: it has pretty much everything. Washing machine, dishwasher, fibre broadband, included bedding, parking. We accept up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if needed.
