Robsons Cottage is in Alston. It's a terraced house, part of a row. It's 18th century, so it's an old place. Alston is the highest market town in England.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one shower room. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and functional. There's a wood burner in the living area. The stairs are steep.
You're in the middle of the Pennines, right on the edge of the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and not far from Northumberland. The views are big. You can see for miles.
In Alston itself, there's a co-op and a spar for basics. The spar has a butcher. There's a bakery that makes bread on site. A few pubs serve food and real ale. The high street is cobbled and quite steep.
If you're walking, the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast route go right through the town. For a drive, the A686 over Hartside Pass has famous views across to the Lakes. The South Tynedale Railway starts here too, if you fancy a trip on a narrow-gauge train.
Within about half an hour's drive, you've got Killhope Lead Mining Museum, which is interesting if you like industrial history. The High Force waterfall is over in Teesdale, and it's worth the trip.
Facilities: there's a wood burner, WiFi, a TV, and bike storage. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
