Gilmore House

Gilmore House is in Alston town centre. It's a terraced house, Victorian I think. It's up a cobbled street.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 3 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and functional, not luxury. The stairs are normal, nothing too steep.

You've got two living rooms downstairs, which is handy. One has an open fire. There's a small garden at the back with a bit of seating. The windows have shutters.

The town is the highest in England, so the views are good. The air is clean. There's a shop about a minute's walk away, and a pub and restaurant just round the corner.

For walking, you can start right from the front door. The coast to coast cycle route goes through the town. The North Pennines are all around you. It's about a 30 minute drive to Ullswater in the Lake District, where you can get the steamer. Penrith and Keswick are also within half an hour.

Inside there's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs. Parking is on site.
