The Calf Shed
The Calf Shed is one of three old barns we converted, about a mile outside Alston. It's behind our house, but you've got your own space. It sleeps two, one bedroom and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean.
The stairs are steep because it's a barn. The main room is open plan, kitchen and sitting area together. There's an electric shower. Bedding and towels are included. You can park right there.
Outside, there's a small patio area for you. The hot tub is shared between the three barns. The view from it is good, looking over towards Mount Hooley and the valley.
Alston's a mile away. It's a proper old market town with a cobbled street, a few shops, pubs, and cafes. The South Tynedale Railway is there if you like narrow gauge trains. The Pennine Way runs right past the property, so you can walk from the door.
For a day out, Hadrian's Wall is about a 30 minute drive. The North Pennines area is all around you, good for cycling or walking. You can drive to the Lake District in under an hour. Beamish Museum, Newcastle, and Carlisle are all within that range too.
You can bring one dog. There's a washing machine and bike storage if you need it.
